The Income Tax Department sas so far seized over Rs 200 crores in simultaneous raid conducted at around 25 premises in Odisha and Jharkhand linked to Baldeo Sahu and group of companies Ltd, a Cocuntry-liquor manufacturing and selling firm with operations across odisha’s Western District Bolangir. The total seized amount is likely to go up as the counting process is still on, sources in the I-T Department said. According to I-T sources, the liquor manufactuer Group is allegedly linked to Congress Rajaya Sabha MP from Jharkhand Dhiraj Sahu, whose family members run the business. It’s a partnership firm of Boudh Distilleries Private Limited and a leading Country-liquor manufacturing firm, I-T sourcs said.

Sources said that 150 officials were taking part in raids on the liquor manufactuer group, the I-T department has also engaged another 20 officials from Hyderabad for verification of digital documents recoverd from different places during the I-T raids. The seized money was being counted at wo SBI branches at sambalpur and Bolangir, Sources said, adding that counting of the cash, mostly in Rs 500 demonination notes, has become a herculean task and machines have developed glitches due to the heavy load. Note counting machines have been brought from banks to streamline the process, they said.

the I-T raids started from Boudh Distillery Privated Limited, a subsidarly of Baldeo Sau Infra Privated Limited. The raids were conducted in Sambalpur, Rourkela, Bolangir, Sundargarh and Bhubaneswar.

Taking a dig at congress leaders, Modi Wrote: The countrymen should look at the pile of these notes and then listern to the honest speeches of their leaders. whatever has been looted from the public. Jaharkhand congress spokesperson Rakesh Sinha Said: “Dheeraj Prasad Sahu’s business is very old, and his wealth did not grow overnight.. Almost all manufacturing and sale of country liquor in Odisha is owned by Dheeraj Sahu, where transactin are in cash, They are into hospitality, transport, fisheries, liquor and various other businesses. Also, as far as we know, the I-t department has not communicated anything to him.
